Are there any upfront costs?

Absolutely not. We will be more than happy to investigate your refund status.  If it is determined you are owed a refund, with your permission we will contact the necessary parties, submit all paperwork to proper departments, and assist in the entire cancellation process.  At the conclusion of the process, you will be invoiced for 30% of the total refund amount.  This way you pay nothing until we confirm the refund has been paid out.  Complete peace of mind!

How long does the entire process take?

It depends on the procedures of the warranty companies. Typically it could be any where from 3-6 weeks and sometimes a little longer.  Remember, these companies are in business to sell warranties, not cancel them so it’s not uncommon for them to try and delay the process. This is the exact reason for our services as we constantly stay on top of them and make sure the process is expedited quickly and that we maximize your refund amount.

Do I need to do anything?

Other than provide us the basic information, you may need to provide us a few things such as a letter from your lender stating your loan is paid in full(if applicable) or a odometer statement.  We typically request a copy of the protection agreement to verify the proper cancellation process for you.  On rare occasions, the dealer may request to speak with you or call you to confirm your request to cancel.  Either way, we will be with you every step of the way so you don’t have to worry.

How do I know if I qualify for a refund?

There are several reasons you may qualify for a refund, here are the most common ways if:

1. You purchased an extended warranty within the past 6 years and the terms and mileage have not expired.  Even if you no longer own the car, you can still qualify for a refund.

2.  You traded in or sold your vehicle to a dealership or private party.  As long as you didn’t transfer the warranty to someone, you are most likely entitled to a refund.

3.  Your car was totaled by your insurance company or if it was stolen and not recovered

If it is determined that I don’t qualify for a refund, do I owe any money?

Absolutely not! It is free for us to investigate your refund status. There is nothing to lose by simply filling out the quick application and checking to see if you’re owed money!

Is MyWarrantyRefund a law firm?

No, we are not a law firm whatsoever.  This service is to simply help consumers with the cancellation process because it can be very difficult for most people to do it on their own.  Our cancellation methods have shown to get successful results in the shortest amount of time. We have seen first hand how the process is sometimes delayed by the warranty companies so we just want to lend our expertise and get back what’s rightly yours.

What is the purpose of MyWarrantyRefund?

The #1 goal is to help educate consumers.  The majority of people don’t even know that extended warranties and GAP insurance are cancellable and refundable. There are literally tens of millions of dollars owed to consumers that just sit in the hands of the warranty companies for no good reason.  We want to change this and get back whats yours!  The decision to cancel your coverages is entirely up to you, we can only educate you and provide you with your options.

Can I cancel other warranties/insurances I bought?

Absolutely.  If you purchased other coverages such as a maintenance plan, ding/dent/window plan, road hazard/tire plan, etc, we can help cancel that also.  Whatever kind of service contract you have, we can help!  Keep in mind, not all warranties are refundable but atleast we can try!

What is GAP?  Is it cancelable?

Gap is a insurance plan that protects you in the event of a total loss or if the car is stolen and not recovered. With little or no money down, many times people will have a Gap, or simply put the difference between what you owe on the car and its current value.  If you owe more than the actual value, you have whats called a GAP.  For example,  if you owe $15k on your car and the value is $10k, you have a negative Gap of $5k. This is your responsibility to pay unless you have Gap insurance, therefore the Gap insurance would pay the $5k for you. In some cases, the Gap will also include paying your deductible for your insurance company leaving you with no out-of-pocket expenses.

How do I qualify for a Gap Refund?

The most common ways you would qualify for a Gap refund are:

  1. You sold or traded the car and there was time remaining on the existing loan.
  2. You paid off your loan quicker than expected.(example: you had a 72 month loan and paid it off in 30 months.)
  3. Your car value is equal to or greater than the current loan amount.(At some point during the duration of the loan you will hit whats called the break even point which means the current value is the same as your loan balance. At this point, you no longer need Gap.)

Quick tip!

When you purchase Gap insurance it covers you the entire term of the loan. However for most loans you will eliminate the negative equity within 2-3 years.  Therefore it is always good to check your current value of your car at Kelly blue book(kbb.com) and compare it to your current loan amount.  Once you know the value exceeds your loan balance, you can cancel your Gap and get a refund.

 

Where is the refund sent?

It depends on whether there is an outstanding loan on the car or not.  If the car is paid in full, then we will have the refund sent directly to you.  If you still have a loan, then 100% of the refund amount is sent to the lender on record to lower your balance and you will be invoiced separately for the 30% service fee.   In either case, our service fee is not deducted from the refund amount, therefore you are invoiced separately.

My Car was totaled. Am I owed a Refund?

It depends. If your insurance companies settlement was enough money to cover the outstanding balance of your loan, then there is a good chance you are owed a refund.  If you owe more than the value of your car, your lender has the right to cancel any protection plans and collect any refunds due to cover their losses.  The answer to this question can be a bit tricky because there are several scenarios that could occur to change the outcome of your ability to receive the refund.  Feel free to send us a message about your situation at info@mywarrantyrefund.com.
